GEAR UP : Robotics

The GEAR UP Robotics program is an exciting way to teach children science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students join after school robotics clubs at their GEAR UP schools and work with math or science teachers, UL students, and college professors to learn about robot design and coding. The teams compete in local contests with the goal of qualifying for advanced competitions. The middle school program was spearheaded by Dr. Douglas Williams, who is the director of the Center for Innovative Learning and Assessment Technologies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Joshua Vaughan, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, is currently working with our high school students as they explore the UL Engineering Design Course and participate in the MCHE201 Robotics contest.
